Program Overview:

The goal of the program is to create a dynamic ecosystem of high-quality education through training and up-skilling of UG/PG teachers from higher education institutes (HEIs) in Maharashtra over the period of 3 to 5 years. It introduces science and math pedagogy which is also open to faculty from humanities, interdisciplinary studies and engineering from Maharashtra. The program aligns with NEP 2020 with its focus on concept-based learning and emphasis on pedagogical innovation by and for teachers.

Program Content:

Level 1: This introductory workshop includes general module on topics such as active learning, defining learning outcomes, inquiry-based teaching, and assessment methods etc. followed by subject wise breakout sessions focusing on the subject-specific pedagogies and activities in laboratories. There are pre-and post-workshop activities to engage the participants and help assess the motivation, capacities, and skills of these teachers to be trained as Master Trainers during the intensive Level 2 component of the program.

Level 2: This is an intensive training (includes theory and lab sessions) for invited participants from the cohort of MS-DEED Level 1 workshops. The participants are introduced to modifying and blending theory and lab courses to promote student engagement and critical thinking skills. The focus is on developing the selected educators as Master Trainers in a cascade model. Level 2 workshops introduce participants to effective classroom engagement as well as laboratory-based inquiry-oriented pedagogies.
