Program Overview

The National Facility for Biopharmaceuticals (NFB), Guru Nanak Khalsa College has ultra-modern infrastructure, equipment and labs to support research interests in microbiology, fermentation, molecular biology, proteomics, bio-analytical analysis and mammalian tissue culture. The broad focus of the programme is on developing knowledge, skills and soft skills required by faculty/research students for in the area of barcoding. The participants have the opportunity for hands-on practice and thereby enhance their learning and research skills related to barcoding. It is hoped that such training through high-end expert facilities can ignite interest in science and its specialized disciplines.

Program Content

The program includes a three-day workshop that is held at different geographical regions of Maharashtra. The program equips teachers with necessary skills, knowledge and attitude for effective research. The program includes guidance by experts on various topics which includes a practical overview of the conceptual and analytical aspects of DNA barcoding, Genomic DNA extraction, Quantification and Agarose gel electrophoresis, Polymerase Chain Reaction, Bioinformatic analysis. All the sessions are hands-on sessions to get actual practical exposure.

The facility has ultra-modern infrastructure, equipment and labs to support research interests in microbiology, fermentation, molecular biology, proteomics, bioanalytical analysis and mammalian tissue culture. Since inception they have worked with more than 50 major industries/organisations such as National Innovation Foundation, Haffkine Biopharmaceutical Pvt. Ltd., etc.
